University of Minnesota Rochester invited to the White House
Authored By: vcarroll 11/14/2024Chancellor Carrell represented the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) at the White House for a gathering of approximately 200 education and workforce leaders for the Biden-Harris Administration’s “Classroom to Career” Summit which highlighted record progress to expand career pathways to in-demand jobs. The event featured keynotes from President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and a reception with opportunities to connect with other innovators such as senior Administration officials, state and local elected officials, leaders in higher ed and K-12, unions, workforce development leaders, business leaders and more.
Following the White House Reception on Career Pathways, the U.S. Department of Education hosted an afternoon summit focused on the importance of career-connected education and how education and industry leaders can build high-quality pathways. Leaders and industry experts discussed efforts to address workforce needs by aligning education with high-demand careers
