Scholarships

Students must complete their application for admission by December 1 to be considered for the following scholarships:

    • Chancellor's Scholarships - covers tuition, room and board
    • Faculty Scholarships - covers tuition
    • Passion Scholarships - amounts vary

​​All students regardless of date of application are automatically considered for the following scholarships:

    • Influencer - $1,000 - $3,000
    • Health CORE - $5,000
    • Bachelor of Science in Health Professions - amounts vary 
    • UPromise - amounts vary
    • Success Scholarship - amounts vary

Scholarship Timeline:

    • August 1 - Application for admission opens
    • December 1 - Deadline for maximum scholarship consideration and Early Assurance programs
    • Mid-December - Scholarship committee reviews applications and students are notified if they've been selected to participate in UMR Scholarship Day
    • January 6 - UMR Scholarship Day RSVP deadline
    • February 1 - UMR Scholarship Day
    • Late February - Students are notified of any scholarship awards
    • May 1 - Deadline to accept offer of admission

UMR Scholarship Day

Scholarship finalists are invited to interview and participate in UMR Scholarship Day in February. Students will have the opportunity to meet UMR faculty and staff and get to know current and incoming students. The day is a combination of interviews, presentations and an open house including a campus tour for those who have not yet been to UMR. All new first-year and transfer students are considered for scholarships.

Students will apply for scholarships as part of their application process though in some cases, a separate essay is required. 

Students are encouraged to apply for external scholarship opportunities in addition to the ones available at UMR along with applying for federal financial aid (FAFSA). View One Stop’s Scholarship Resources page for more information.

All students admitted to UMR are considered for an Influencer Scholarship. The scholarship is based on each student’s unweighted GPA at the time of acceptance.

Influencer Scholarships are established at the time of acceptance and cannot be increased. A student may not request additional aid if their GPA increased between the time of acceptance and matriculation.

Two Chancellor’s Scholarships are awarded each year to students who participate in UMR Scholarship Day. Chancellor’s Scholarships are valued at full tuition and fees, room and board. Recipients are selected by the committee following UMR Scholarship Day interviews.

Five Faculty Scholarships are awarded each year to students who participate in UMR Scholarship Day. Faculty Scholarships are valued at full tuition. Recipients are selected by the committee following  UMR Scholarship Day interviews.

Students applying to UMR who complete the Passion Statement on the application will automatically be considered for UMR Scholarship Day.

Passion scholarships are awarded in varying amounts. Recipients are selected by the committee following UMR Scholarship Day interviews.

The Health CORE (Community of Respect and Empowerment) Living Learning Community (LLC) enhances diversity and inclusivity in the UMR student experience through intentional community development and support. The aim of the Health CORE LLC is to support the success of underrepresented students, including, but not limited to first generation, Pell Grant eligible and veterans; supporting all participants throughout their four-year term at UMR while cultivating their growth and personal development into ethical, persistent and resourceful servant-leaders.

The program provides recipients with an annual four-year scholarship.

Health CORE LLC Application Timeline 

    • August 1 - Application for admission opens. Students interested in Health CORE must fill out the supplemental scholarship essay in the application.
    • Mid-January - Students are notified if they've been selected to participate in Health CORE Scholars Day
    • February 3 - Health CORE Scholarship RSVP deadline
    • February 22 - Health CORE Scholars Day*
    • Early March - Health CORE scholarship recipients are selected and notified following participation in Health CORE Scholars Day

*Please note that this evaluation process is separate from UMR Scholarship Day.

Limited institutional financial aid funds are available for the 2024-25 academic year to assist returning students.

These funds:

    • Will be awarded for the 2024-25 academic year.
    • Are one-time awards.
    • Will be awarded to eligible sophomore, junior, or senior status students, in good academic standing, and enrolled full-time (taking 12 credits or more).
    • Exceptions to the full-time requirement may be considered for seniors in their last semester and need fewer than 12 credits to graduate.

Students must complete the Continuing Student Scholarship application.

The priority consideration deadline is March 15. Applications will be accepted until April 1, pending availability of fund

Raptor Research Funds
Students presenting research or attending conferences may request funds to assist with travel expenses.

Students are encouraged to explore and apply for local, regional and national scholarships from external providers. Students should be cautious and never pay or provide credit card information when searching for or applying to scholarships.
