UMR Ambassadors

UMR Ambassadors provide campus tours to prospective students and their families and assist the Office of Admissions in recruiting students who are passionate about solving the grand health challenges of the 21st century.

Interested in becoming an Ambassador?

Ambassadors are students with a passion for sharing the UMR story. Every year the office of Admissions looks for students who are personable, outgoing and excited about UMR.

Why did you choose UMR: I chose UMR because of the small class sizes and access to resources and Professors. I also enjoy the proximity to Mayo Clinic and the opportunities that come with it!

Why did you choose UMR: I really enjoyed the smaller size of the campus; it really encouraged relationship-building with professors, staff, and other students. The close proximity to Mayo Clinic is also something I have really benefited from.

Why did you choose UMR: I chose to attend the University of Minnesota Rochester because of its strong academic reputation, innovative programs, and the opportunity to be part of a vibrant and supportive community.

Favorite UMR memory: One of my most cherished memories at the University of Minnesota Rochester was during finals week. The Rochester Student Association went above and beyond, providing students with nourishing meals to keep our energy up. It wasn't just the food, but the sense of community that left an impact. Sharing a meal with my peers, taking a break from our studies, and feeling the support from the RSA made the challenges of finals week more bearable. It showed the strong bond and spirit of the UMR community.

Why did you choose UMR: I picked UMR for its diversity and inclusivity. I like the small class sizes and how professors are closer to each individual student thus can provide better teaching styles.

Favorite UMR memory: Involvement Fair last year. It was a fun and upbeat event where all clubs assembled to recruit new members. It's also a great way for new students to explore options for extracurricular opportunities

Why did you choose UMR: When I went on my tour during my senior year of college, I loved how small the campus was. I could tell that a community was built at the school not just with students but also faculty members. Another reason I chose UMR was the opportunities I was offered by being so close to Mayo Clinic. I knew that the environment that UMR offered was the one for me.

Favorite UMR memory: I am a member of the North Star STEM Alliance (NSS). Through this group we were given an opportunity to attend a conference in Eau Claire. I loved going to the poster sessions and seeing all the research that was conducted throughout the academic year. Supporting my UMR peers was a highlight of the trip.

Why did you choose UMR: I chose UMR, of course because of the small class size and JustAsk but also because it also was clear that my Ambassador was integrated in her community. She kept saying "Hi" and trading jokes with students and faculty alike as we went. That was the college life I wanted, and well here I am!

Why did you choose UMR:  I really enjoyed the small class sizes with the strong community feel. The drive and focus surrounding Health Sciences was also a big factor in choosing UMR.
