Chancellor Lori J. Carrell has been awarded the Mayor’s Medal of Honor for Educational Excellence, one of Rochester’s highest distinctions. This honor underscores the University of Minnesota Rochester’s growing reputation as a leader in innovative, student‑centered education.

The University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) is welcoming a record-breaking number of new students to campus this fall. Nearly 400 new students will begin their college careers at UMR on Tuesday, September 2. The number of new UMR undergraduates is up more than 80% over last year. Official “Day 10” University of Minnesota numbers of total students served on each campus, including Rochester, will be released later this fall.
