Transfer Admissions Overview

University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) defines a transfer student as one who has graduated high school and has received college credit post high school graduation.

If a student has received college credit in high school (PSEO, CIS, etc.) but does not have a high school diploma, they are considered a new first-year student.

Chemistry at UMR

The Chemistry courses offered at UMR are sequenced in a unique way that is different from traditional campuses.

This graphic compares a traditional chemistry curriculum with the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) chemistry sequence. On the left, it lists General Chemistry I & II and Organic Chemistry I & II as separate courses. On the right, it shows how these courses transfer to UMR’s integrated chemistry sequence: CHEM 1111 and 1112 (General Chemistry equivalents), and CHEM 1123 and 1124 (Organic Chemistry equivalents). The layout visually maps each traditional course to its UMR counterpart, helping students understand credit transfer and curriculum alignment.

This is typical among many Chemistry courses but not a guarantee as to how chemistry courses will transfer to UMR. Please check with Tranferology to confirm how your chemistry courses will transfer to UMR.
